Winter is Coming: Prep Your BMW for Winter Weather

Get Your BMW Prepared for Winter this Year

Although we don’t suffer the brutal winters of those in the Northeast, whose roads are often blanketed in snow and ice, here in Tama, FL, we still get an abundance of rain and even frost. When temperatures drop, it can leave your BMW vulnerable, and if not properly prepared, you can be left with a disabled vehicle or even in a collision.

At BMW of Tampa, we want your car to be in its best shape! Not only do we feature a BMW Authorized Service and Repair Facility, but we also provide transparency and helpful tips so that you can be safe on the road!

Come with us as we share a few winter car care tips and find out how you can prepare your car for winter in Tampa, FL.

Our Favorite Tips to Winterize Your Car This Year

Here are our favorite tips on how to prepare your car for winter!

Check Your Tires

We can’t stress this enough. Of all of the safety and driver assist features in your BMW, your tires are the only components that come into contact with the road. Trying to power through a winter rain storm with low tread, or old tires can cause you to have a collison.

Windshield Wipers

We recommend changing your windshield wipers at least once per year. Before the winter months bring winter storms, check your windshield wipers to make sure that they’re prepared to clear your windshield of all the rain that’ll greet us this season.

Check Your Antifreeze

While we’re used to the tropical climate that so many visitors flock to Florida to enjoy, winter nights can cause temperatures to drop below freezing. Low or old coolant may be susceptible to freezing and could cause problems with your vehicles’ cooling system. If its been more than three years or 36,000 miles since your last flush

Check Your Lights

Whether you’re hitting the brakes or depending on your headlights, you want to be able to see the road ahead, and you want others to see you. Late model BMWs will notify you with an in-cabin message if your BMW has a malfunctioning light. If your BMW is notifying you of a fault, allow our Authorized BMW Center to change it out for you so you can be safe on the road.

Emergency Kit

In the unexpected evented of an emergency, you want to be prepared. Be sure to have an emergency kit in your car so unexpected emergencies are a little less uncomfortable.
